Brian is a graduate of the Dublin Institute of Technology, Bolton Street, and Trinity College Dublin. He founded Cobbe Architecture in 2014, prior to this he was a Director in the architectural firm of NDBA Architects. He joined NDBA Architects in 1998, and was appointed as an Associate in June 2003 before becoming a Director and lead designer in September 2006.
Brian has designed and completed a significant number of projects of varying scale and complexity across a broad range of sectors, from large commercial developments to bespoke residential houses. Brian has gained extensive experience in the design, delivery and management of a wide range of urban design, masterplanning and consultation projects. His work demonstrates a proven ability to understand and interpret complex briefs and to deliver innovative and cost effective design solutions. Brian has been responsible for the design and construction of a number of notable commercial schemes, including The Harcourt Building, The Morgan Hotel, and The Boyne Tower. He was the Director responsible for the RIAI award winning redevelopment of Holy Cross Church, Dundrum. Brian has just completed the restaurant fit out of Brassiere Le Pont and the refurbishment of No. 25 Fitzwilliam Place. As project director he led the multidisciplinary team responsible for the design, construction and fit-out of the recently completed €15 million Rosemont Secondary School, Sandyford.
He has a particular interest in housing design and has led many of the practice’s large scale residential projects. He was the director responsible for the Hansfield SDZ, The Coast Development, Carrickmines Green, Embankment and Shieling Square. He has recently completed a competition winning masterplan for a large three hundred unit residential development at Scholarstown Road, Rathfarnham and a two thousand unit mixed-use scheme in Kengeri, India. Brian has also worked on a number of smaller bespoke residential developments and renovations such as Sandford Square Ranelagh, Kerrymount Avenue Foxrock and Mart Lane Foxrock. As the primary point of contact for many of the clients, Brian’s focus was to continually strive for excellence in client service through quality design, commercial focus and efficient delivery of projects through collaboration. Brian has excellent people management, communication and leadership skills and an ability to clearly communicate project requirements to both in-house and multidisciplinary teams. His experience and proven track record have allowed him to lead the design & construction of complex fast track projects from inception to completion.
Brian has been a member of the Royal Institute of Architects of Ireland (RIAI) since 2003.
